Chapada dos Veadeiros National Park




The Chapada dos Veadeiros National Park established in 1961, protects an area of 65,514 ha of high altitude Cerrado. Several plant formations; hundreds of springs and water
courses; rocks over a billion years, and landscapes of rare beauty,
with features that change over the years. The park also preserves areas
of old goldmines, as part of local history and has been declared World
Natural Heritage by UNESCO in 2001. Besides conservation, the Park aims
to scientific research, environmental education and public visitation.
The journey to the waterfalls are the main activities in the park in ancient
routes used by miners, which today are used by visitors. (source: IBAMA)
